Hikers Hike

Breakfast hike to the temple with these incredible women. I wish I could've taken notes from our conversations that morning. I left feeling inspired.

Then more hikes and bike rides with hot stuff himself

Horsetail Falls

Silver Lake Hike
Hiking, just the two of us, has been the best!
... except for the time we fought the whole way, ha

Next time we're bringing a hammock and taking a nap at the top.

 Battlecreek

Pine Hollow to Ridge, our longest hike yet—2 1/2 hours.
hahahaha

Rob skips through the meadow...
The way down was the best part ever. It was narrow, tree-lined, and steep, so you could run full speed with no effort. It was like running like a fugitive from the law with the trees whizzing by so fast
... just like old times
jk :)

Can you believe that scene?!

End of season Stewart Falls near Sundance hike.

Peace out
... and hug trees :)

Granny

 Granny's birthday at Cheesecake Factory

Nate and Morgan surprised us all by showing up at Granny's house one Sunday afternoon

Nate's sweet head tilt cracks me up!

Honestly thinks her kids are the greatest humans on the planet
Never holds a grudge
Good taste and an eye for color and balance
Love, love, loves my dad
Remarried someone who's perfect for her "golden years"
Wise
Bubbly
Loved school and loves her counseling clients
I'm her favorite
      ...just kidding

Not blogging much...

...obviously, ha. But I have about 27 posts of summer in the dock, so maybe that will happen sometime soon....

So, months ago...
I read a book (even longer ago) called "The Child Whisperer" that discussed four basic personality types: Fun-loving, Sensitive, Determined, and More Serious. I fell easily into the More Serious category. These types of people, among other things, don't actually need fun. It sounds crazy but probably true in my case.

HOWEVER, Parade of Homes is all fun and proof for my kids that I'm not beyond help.

We push through about 4 or 5 hours of homes a day for two or three days (ha, sounds like work!) Megan doesn't let us stop to eat or drink #carboloadbeforehand #istillcallitfun
(I've started Instagramming, #canyoutell haha)

Speaking of Insta... one of my first posts:

Megan says Elder Roney and wife are our couple twin. #shehaseightkids #lovemywhitehothunk #whiteisthenewgray

Not Instagramming much either, tho....

Las Vegas, 2016

Basketball tourney for Cy in Vegas means...
Road Trip

Mia's "Mom! Are you kidding me?" face...

On top of the Big Shot ride at the Stratosphere Mahdi yells, "I love you Jesus--do you love me, too?!" hahahahaha

Our Bonus Boys! Love those guys

One of the days I left Rob with the 7 kids (ha!) and headed back to St. George for Cassie's surprise 40th birthday party

Check out the sweet boat...

Mint lemonade and salads for lunch

Sisters—can you tell?

On the way home I grabbed dinner at Costa Vida. A guy about my age asked me, "Is your name Melissa?" When I said no, he looked at me like I was lying... pfffff
This is who he mistook me for...

Go figure.

The last morning of our vacation at about 8:00 a.m. and in 90 degree heat, I found our back passenger window smashed in and our car ransacked. They took a DVD player that was worth about 5 bucks and, worse, my little fabric car trash bag (?). MK's the one that kept some serious cash in her glove box... phew.
So, how did we get across the desert in 115 degree heat?

With layers of plastic wrap around the door loudly vibrating for the 7-hour drive. But the a/c was sealed in nice and tight. I'll take that deal.

Uh... theft successful

During the games, I had the best conversations with my friend Tiffany (Lloyer's mom). These were our texts afterward...

(My OTHER 17-year-old, haha) ANYways...

Vegas, you were a trip.
