Other Goings On

I'm having a tough time deciding how much to blog about the events of the past few weeks. So, while I'm trying to figure that out, I'm just going to blog about the other stuff we've had going on.

Like Getty's Valentine's Day dance. Is he adorable or what?!

I love his shy face in this pic :)
Not so shy here...

Again with the gorgeousness!
Dancing with cousin Ireland, too cute!

He's all mine...until middle school next year :/

A Sight for Sore Eyes

Clint and Cassie flew in from Hawaii just for the funeral. What amazing friends they are.
After the funeral services and grave dedication at the cemetery, we headed for home... and spotted Elle's one and only on our porch.
I'm pretty sure I heard her giggle and scream in pure delight :) We busted up laughing.

Whoa, we needed that.

Elle's Obituary

Isabelle Marie Evans

Isabelle “Elle” Marie Evans, 4, of Highland, Utah, died on Wednesday, February 8, 2012, as a result of injuries sustained in an accident.

Elle was born on November 6, 2007, in Sandy, Utah, the sixth child of Rob and Lorenne Briner Evans. She was as entertaining as she was beautiful. She loved to rock out to music with her big sisters, slide down the stairs with her brothers in sleeping bags, pose for the camera, toss her hair back from her face and purse her glossed-up lips, throw things when she was mad, rummage through Aunt Meme's purse for gum and lip glosses, give her dad alphabet-long foot rubs, and suck her thumb as she smelled the tags on her blankies at bedtime. She figured Aunt Megan’s high heels were perfect attire for jumping on the trampoline and wanted to always be modest when she played dress-up. She would sing "I Love to See the Temple" or "Celebration" by Kool & the Gang to her mom on their bike rides around Alpine, and she planned for her and her friend Sienna to marry Justin Bieber. She had that Muhammad Ali "I'm the greatest" kind of attitude, and she was. Her family was crazy about her.

As a last gift of her life, Elle donated her kidney.

Elle is survived by her father, Rob, her mother, Lorenne, her sisters, McKenzie and Mia, her brothers, Getty, Cy, and Cam, and other extended family. She is predeceased by her grand-père, Michael Ned Briner, and her great-grandparents.

Funeral services: Monday, February 13th, at 11:00 a.m. at the Highland West Stake Center, 11605 N. 6000 W. Highland, Utah. Viewing: Sunday, February 12th, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Warenski Funeral Home, 1776 N. 900 E. American Fork and at the Highland West Stake Center on Monday at 9:30 a.m. prior to funeral services.

Thank you to all who have showed such love and concern for Elle and her family. Elle’s message to us, “My life is a gift; my life has a plan.*”

Elle's status

We can't thank you enough for your faith, fasting, prayers and support for Elle and our family and for Mel and his. We will try to give you a status on Facebook every morning. We had an uneventful night, which is good. Elle is still critically ill and is on ECHMO (heart/lung machine), but is responding to treatments and is trending in the right direction. We are hoping she'll be off ECHMO in a week or so and that would be a major milestone. The doctors will take her off sedation briefly today to check her physical responsiveness. They are not reducing the sedation to the point that she would do anything more than just move around. Progress will be slow for a few days if all goes well, so if we have nothing to report, that is a good thing. We have reason to be hopeful, so we are. Elle won't let us post any pictures until she can get prettied up :) We love you!

We created a Facebook page called Elle Updates. You can find it at this link:

College Signing Day Party at L.P.

February 1st is the date colleges can officially sign their prospective soccer and football players. Five of MK's high school soccer teammates signed, along with three football players.
(MK's sporting a shiner from a soccer header collision. I think we took a bajillion pictures of her that day :)
MK was the last athlete to show up for the signing. She kept 200 people waiting.
Yes, she did.

Cam sits waiting reverently.

Wait—can I come, too? I wonder what would happen if I signed my name....
Coach :)
MK's BYU-H coach got her a Large t-shirt for the occasion.
