Rob Turns 47

"I'm taking those shirts back if they weren't on sale..." he threatened.
(Pffff, of course they were on sale. The bargain is the real gift.)

After dinner and chocolate cake in a bowl of milk (to celebrate my Dad's birthday the day before), we hijacked Rob's plans to go back to work and drove him to the park to play some family volleyball.

Later that week, Rob shows his players how its done at the LP Volleyball Party

MK grabbing Mia's arm to pull her over to the food table,
and Mia straight flexin' like the guys do, hahahahaha

Our kids took over the court while everyone else ate

The players and their dates joined in after dinner

Rest up, honey. Forty-seven birthdays down; fifty-three to go.

Tuesday Game Nights

The kids supporting Getty and Rob in their region volleyball tournament.
They just happened to be color-coordinated...

Oh, Cy. Check you out.

Tournament Champs, lower division, 2015

Number 19 is the designated team manager, who Getty threw a surprise birthday party for at volleyball practice, and who never showed up (because it was his birthday!). So, they Facetimed him and made him feel bad for ditching them while they ate all his donuts....
Getty's different shirt identifies him as the libero.
(Um, wrong sport, Gett ;)

Curfewsing

With MK's arrival home post-graduation, Rob and I have been asking parents of young adults living at home for advice on what we should/could reasonably expect as far as any kind of curfew for someone who has obviously lived without parental supervision for years at college.

The consensus was confusion and doubt. Then again, none of the parents were grappling with an MK—a brand of dedicated all-night socializing rarely seen.

After some weeks of mulling this over, this is what I came up with:

I read it to Rob who agreed and then discussed it with MK, who also agreed but sighed and made faces.
Mia was just happy MK had to have a curfew.

It's posted in the kitchen, so it's official.

Getting MK her own house key was an obvious problem-solver. It took me three years to figure that one out ;) My plan had been staying up til she got home....

Mia's Prom, 2015

Day Date: go-karting

Aunt Britt, Mia's stylist

WOW

Wyatt & Mia

I was too late for group pics, but Lucy forwarded a few...

Shortly after these pics, things went to pot—er, down the pot...
After pictures and prime rib, everyone climbed into the chartered bus and headed for the State Capitol. Once there, the guys each bolted for the bathroom and found everyone else in the same predicament....

It didn't hit the girls until the bus ride home. They arrived at Alex's home for homemade scones and a movie but were sick and lethargic. Mia was so nauseated she asked her date to take her home.

The culprit: $30/plate prime rib dinner. The guys' parents contacted the restaurant, which is now in process of investigating their kitchen and filing insurance claims.

Mia posted on Instagram: "despite food poisoning & me throwing up on the car ride home, Wyatt put up with me and was the greatest prom date I could have asked for! Thanks for taking me to my last dance"

She walked in from her date that night, "Mom! I'm SO happy he saw me throw up! Now he won't think I was faking it to cut out early... phew."
Definitely a memorable Senior Prom, Mia!
