I wrote a letter to be read at the funeral, but in the shuffle on the stand, it was forgotten, so here it is:
Elle,
Hi, Sweetie. You know I would do anything for you, including live the rest of my life without you. I am so happy for you and what Elder Bednar called "your graduation" from this life.
Thank you for reaching your arms up to me and letting me hold you, especially in the mornings. I loved that you would wait at the top of the stairs for me to carry you down like the princess you are. I have been so proud of you from the day you were born and worried sometimes as you grew older that I would creep you out because I would just stare at you :)
There are two reasons I will be able to accept your death. The first is that I believe your short life was God's plan for you, and I trust Him with my whole heart.
The second reason is that I won't miss out on a single day of your life. I'm so grateful that the Prophet Joseph Smith has told us you will be raised in the Resurrection just as you were laid down. We will pick up right where we left off as mother and four-year-old daughter when He comes again. So, like your favorite Justin Bieber says, for now "I'll wait on you forever and a day" and anticipate the overwhelming joy and satisfaction I will feel to be restored the privilege of being your mom as I raise you under the best of circumstances.
Elle, only Heavenly Father can comprehend just how much I love you. I will miss you so much, but I will try to remember that our separation is temporary. My favorite thoughts are of the day we will be together again!
Love,
Mom
