What Getty's been up to...

 Yes he's naked...
playing Fortnight

Our ward bishop spent 5th Sunday 3rd hour talking to the kids about 2 things that were problems in our ward (mainly for the boys): vaping and playing Fortnight for hours on end (no problems here!). He said Fortnight was interfering with school, socializing, family relationships, and spirituality and that professional gamers say it's the most addicting game they've played. Cy even did a school report analyzing how it was designed to be so addicting—"small setbacks/big rewards." Of course Cy had to do 6-8 hours of "research" on the game itself, ha.

In our spare time, Getty and Rob and I visit the courtroom, where Getty was assigned a 30-page Court assessment (aka the bane of his existence).

He got a job toward the end of the school year making and delivering pizzas for school cafeteria's. He said the employees are "my people" and that his supervisor, Anita, is "the perfect combination of boss and chill."

When school got out, he found hard labor working for Metal Mart...

Getty makes sure he spends time with the boys 💗

The whole family fasted and showed up to support him at an important court hearing. It couldn't have gone better 😅 Getty slapped his hat on, and we celebrated at JCW's.

His first car (and bank loan)

Rob offered Getty a job working the printer at Five Inc., so he left Metal Mart (who begged him to stay because he's such a hard worker) and has been doing a great job and plans to work his way up in the company 👍

LOVE YOU GETTY!

Hawaii II, 2018

Favorite food right here...

Shave ice and shoppin'

Getty skated a local skate park with MK's friend Julian and caught up with us later

Paddleboarding with Julian and the Hackings to see the sea turtles at Haleiwa

Paddling our way back, we got caught in a big, warm downpour out on the ocean. It was seriously so fun!

quarters and dollar bills at night

Sunday morning we went to church on BYU-H campus with Besser and Julian. One of the members of the bishopric mentioned Elder Bednar's recent visit. Elder Bednar counseled the members regarding our new prophet, Russell M. Nelson, "Get your running shoes on." (At General Conference, Pres. Nelson announced the new ministering program in place of home and visiting teaching, doing away with the high priest quorum and combining with the elders quorum instead, a new temple in Russia among six other places, he's embarking on a global tour at age 93, and we've heard he's heading up a new hymn book... for starters, ha)

After church, our nice leisurely Sunday family hike in the beauty of Oahu took a sketchy turn when MK and Besser led us up past these signs at Crouching Lion...

The kids took off and soon were out of sight and earshot. Rob and I found ourselves climbing straight up the steep mountain in the mud not knowing if we were on a trail or not. Turns out, none of us were on the trail.

Getty was sure we'd gotten hurt or lost, so he stopped the group and asked MK to say a prayer (that boy!).

Meanwhile, Rob and I were sure the kids had gotten hurt or lost. So relieved to find each other at the top!

My question was, how in the world did Cam make that hike?!

With cliffs on either side of us, I was pretty much freaking out and dropped to all fours right after this pic...

On the way down we took the trail 😉

Getty's just so cute! and check out Cy's mane...

So grateful we got to go to Hawaii as a family 🌴

Back in the mainland, Luis arranged to surprise MK at Kneaders on our way home...
MK's friends are never far away.

Cam Has Found his Calling-s

Wrapping up his last year in elementary school, Cam stole the show as Horatio in Mrs. D's annual Hamlet play...

Horatio with our former Hamlet

Cam was so much fun to watch!

Cam also tried out for 7th grade Student Council, along with 50 other students for 3 offices 😅 The judges said they'd never had so many qualified applicants in one grade. First cuts took the 50 down to 8.

Final results were posted...

🙌 🙌 🙌

And then Summer hit, and Cam got serious about tanning...

And making s'mores in the firepit (me taunting Luis over text)...
