Bonus Boys

At the beginning of summer, Mahdi and Reza moved in with us. We met Reza through Getty's friend group, and he quickly became part of our family. 

Mahdi is Reza's best friend. We got to love him, too, and made him move in with us.

They are my reward for pain and suffering as a mother these past few years. Such good boys. 

"No, don't lift those boxes, Mom! I will move them all for you."
"I'll keep an eye on Getty for you (wink)"
"You did the right thing, Mom"
"You have a headache? here's some juice I poured for you"
"You clean all the time—make Reza do it :)"
"Let me make dinner tonight"
"You look nice, Mom"
(...and they laugh at my jokes.)

Getty Is One Year Older (and I am ten years older... :)

MK planned a surprise birthday party for Getty that tanked... hard, as far as Getty was concerned. He led Rob and I upstairs and actually sat us down to have a talk. Unprecedented.

He explained how difficult it was for him to shift gears to the new "surprise" plan. He said, "Mom, you know how I have transition issues..." haha 

After literally 45 minutes of readjusting, he got his second wind, went bowling and to Betos with the new group, then messed around in Walmart.

Thanks to MK's Castle of Caffeine gift (topped by a Monster, which he drank right away), Getty was up ALL that night causing trouble....

In the end he reassured us, "Just so you know, that was the best birthday ever!" 

... And in my sleepless delirium I made sure to text MK some hate mail.

A few things about the last 17 years with our Getty:

First of all, he's obviously been frickin adorable...

 

Fourth birthday at Grandma's. We called him Getty the Grouch (behind his back ;)

Never at a loss for what to do. This is the time he and Cy put on every piece of clothing in their dressers...

(I won't show you a picture of the time they decided to stand in front of each other, guns out, and pee on each other... ) You're welcome.
