Cy's Chain Gang and Cam the Counselor

While Rob and I were on our Friday night date at Blue Lemon, Rob struck up a conversation with an athletic looking black kid working there. Turned out he was a Junior and played football for L.P. Rob asked if he knew our Sophomore, Cy Evans. The kid got a big grin on his face and said, "Cy? I know Cy. He's in my Physics class. He's a legend."

...and this whole time I thought it was only in his mind, haha πŸ˜‚

Cy, LJ, Eli, and Cole bought these Iron Rod necklaces

...and this Captain Moroni pin

I didn't even bribe them to do it. Makes my heart swell to know such good boys.

Lucy loves Cam (like all the girls)

During home study on a Sunday, we were discussing Pres. Nelson's priesthood session talk, "We Can Do Better and Be Better."

I asked Cam, "What does 'ennobling' mean?"

He said, "uh... I don't really know."

I asked Cy the same question, and he said, "If Cam doesn't know, then you know I don't know." πŸ˜‚

I also caught Cam giving Cy relationship advice:

Cam: "You should just tell her she's acting like she doesn't trust you...."

And that's just what Cy did.

Rob's 51st

Rob hasn't been home since basically January with volleyball, basketball, work, work, and more work...
πŸ‘‡(Rob is coaching; πŸ‘‡Cy is setting)

... so we brought the party to his volleyball practice.

Rob's love of country music prompted a hoedown at the O.K. Corral.

Ten of the 10,000 Things We Love About Rob
1. Rob is the best example to me of meeting the kids where they are emotionally and spiritually, so they feel understood and appreciated. That's why he's their favorite.
2. I took the Gallup strengths test, and my #1 strength is problem-solving. I can tell you this much—Rob has taught me more about problem solving than anyone else.
3. We love his soft spot for all with disabilities. He asked to not be released from his 3-year monthly home teaching/ministering assignment at the Developmental center visiting with people who are not only severely mentally handicapped but are also deaf and blind.
4. I LOVE his desire to grocery shop every Saturday and even, "Do you need me to stop and get anything on my way home from work?"
5. His desire to move in/out everyone in the neighborhood and make free banners for returning missionaries or for any event and framed printed fabric pictures for young marrieds or new businesses or whoever.
6. His "Q-pons"
7. His weekend made-to-order breakfasts
8. His Saturday night BBQ steak and shrimp
9. A common sight: He's sitting behind his desk, two people standing in his doorway, he's on the phone with a client, typing multiple emails, working on marketing materials, all while singing along to the country song on the radio. Clearly it's lunchtime πŸ˜‰
10. His Saturday country music jam sessions and Sunday morning personal scripture study and reverent music throughout the day

Rob's as lovable as they come πŸ’—

Middle School "Newsies"

Cam was a jack of all trades. A cop, a newsie, and William Randolph Hearst's son Bill                πŸ‘‡

                                 πŸ‘‡
                                 πŸ‘‡

                                                                                                                 πŸ‘‡
                                                                                                             πŸ‘‡

I did make-up and hair for the cast for a couple hours prior to the shows. One of the 9th graders asked me, "Are you Cam's mom? I love Cam." I said, "I'm glad you like him" He said, "Everybody likes Cam."
What's not to love? πŸ’–
