Happy Birthday New Year!

New Year's Day also happens to be Mahdi's birthday!

Mahdi loves pictures as much as Mia... A LOT.

22 Things We Love About Mahdi

1. He's funny and confident
2. Likes things to be "perfect:" his technology, his sunglasses, his bedroom decor, his bandages, his style, his necklaces, and especially his food
3. Eating is an event
4. Likes to cook at 11:00 p.m.
5. Dresses head to toe in H&M
6. Aspires to be a fashion model/blogger/instagrammer
7. Likes to post stories of the sky (and food)
8. Favorite pastimes are shopping and having pictures taken of him.
9. You know the saying, "Save the drama for your mama?" He does. πŸ˜…
10. Takes for.ev.er to get ready to go, get out of the car, get dressed, pick out an orange juice at the grocery store... (15 minutes and 10 opened bottles in the cart later...)
11. Loves to sleep, like 10 - 15 hours a day
12. Loves the hospital, his "second home"
13. Loves surgeries, so he can "enjoy his pain"
14. Affectionately refers to his pain management doc, Dr. Grose, as "Garbage" or "Nasty"
15. Had a habit of screaming in public places just for fun (we've mostly cured him of that by leaving the store without him πŸ˜‚)
16. His hair is his pride and joy. Gets compliments on his hair almost every time he's in public. He only allows hairdressers to trim the sides and back and leaves the top to manicure and style himself.
17. Tells people how they should do their hair or decorate their house
18. Says "I hate my life" and "can I kill you?" at least once a day. Oh, and "can I punch your face?"
19. Loves to tease. Doesn't know when to stop.
20. Hugs you and says, "I love you!" about 30 times a day
21. Thinks the ER is the place you go when you're upset
22. Loves Chick-Fil-A because they always say, "It's my pleasure."

New Year Resolutions, 2017: Vision Boards

My 2017 resolution "Vision Board"

A Few Explanations:
Popcorn = Popcorn Pillow Talks with the kids at night on my bed
Angel = I want to be an angel in my family's lives
Couple holding hands through the door = couple prayer to help us deal with rebellious kids 😱
All the BABIES = adopt one!
... just kidding. I just love the way the pictures of those babies make me feel. I want that in my relationships.

I posted it on my bathroom mirror so I can "visualize" it daily πŸ‘€ πŸ‘Š

I read in the Huffington Post:

"If you think vision boards are bogus, then the joke’s on you. They work, and there’s actually a really simple explanation of why they work so well.
"Creating a sacred space that displays what you want actually does bring it to life. What we focus on expands. When you create a vision board and place it in a space where you see it often, you essentially end up doing short visualization exercises throughout the day.
"Visualization is one of the most powerful mind exercises you can do. According to the popular book The Secret, “The law of attraction is forming your entire life experience and it is doing that through your thoughts. When you are visualizing, you are emitting a powerful frequency out into the Universe.”
"Whether you believe that or not, we know that visualization works. Olympic athletes have been using it for decades to improve performance, and Psychology Today reported that the brain patterns activated when a weightlifter lifts heavy weights are also similarly activated when the lifter just imagined (visualized) lifting weights.

"So, what’s the big secret to creating a vision board that works? It’s simple: Your vision board should focus on how you want to feel, not just on things that you want. Don’t get me wrong, it’s great to include the material stuff, too. However, the more your board focuses on how you want to feel, the more it will come to life.

Cam's Vision Board, 2017

Cy's Vision Board, 2017

Cy's explanations:
Clock and scriptures = spend more time reading his scriptures every night
LP = make the high school varsity basketball team
Homer = be enthusiastic!

"Q: What should I put on my vision board?

"A: Anything that inspires and motivates you. The purpose of your vision board is to bring everything on it to life. First, think about what your goals are in the following areas: relationships, career and finances, home, travel, personal growth (including spirituality, social life, education) and health.

"You don’t have to cover each area exactly the same, just take a mental inventory of what you want each of those areas to look like and write them down.... From your goals and aspirations, think about what you want on your vision board. Like I said before, what you focus on expands. You’ll be amazed at how things just start popping up all over the place once you set the intention for what you want and how you want to feel."

Christmas Morning, 2016

Seven kids this year (gulp)

This is the best Christmas morning stair pic I got... ya

Reza keeps a space heater in his room at tropical degrees, so a tank top and shorts just makes sense at Christmastime...

The shoes I coveted of Megan's then gave
myself (and Rob paid for)... LπŸ’™VE

MK's sibling gift for Mia...
Wait for it...

We're just happy Getty's with us on Christmas πŸ˜…

Cy's bean bag reveal...

We're not morning people...

... except for Cam who sings show tunes at the top of his lungs in the a.m.

The man who makes this all possible πŸ’˜...

I wrapped this up quite nicely for
myself, don't you think?

Mahdi wrapped this one for me, haha

Here come the Evans' side for Christmas brunch....
