1st day of school, 2018

Cy: "All my teachers love me, I made them laugh. I talked a lot and my friends weren't talking as much, but the teacher got mad at them and not me. Getty was right. You walk down the halls at LP, and there are so many pretty girls. Like SO many. High school is legit. I loved leaving for lunch. And they're so chill about you having your phone. I have so many friends in my classes and in my super hard class too, so that's lucky. It was so fun. All my classes were easy to find.
[To Cam] "Sorry, you have to go to middle school.
"It's the BEST when you can drive right when you get into high school!"

Sevey's orientation day...

Cam: "It was an 8 out of 10, but I think school will end up being a 6 because it will be boring." [Regarding math teacher] "Cy, what's her sense of humor?"

Official first day of middle school

I liked this post on IG and read it to our boys...

For my 49th birthday, I thought I'd record my current
20 FAVORITE THINGS

1. Car tote for groceries, weekly Costco trips, picnics... I use it constantly

2. Hot/Cold car bag for groceries, drinks, etc. Perfect especially in summer when I'm running errands and need to keep groceries cold.

3. Small whiteboards in the kitchen for messages

(and drawing cures boredom)

also the Prayer Requests board:

3. Ladder in the pantry

4. Instagram Buzzfeedtasty's dinner ideas and more...

(I like to pretend I still have little kids at home)

5. Popeye's ice cream. Here's the recipe:

In small Blendtec:

Ingredients
¼ c. Cream or Almond milk or Greek yogurt
Handful of spinach
Half an avocado
1-1 ½ tsp (Watkins brand—Walmart) mint extract
1 scoop whey protein (no additives—Walmart)
1-2 Tbsp honey or agave or maple syrup to taste
Dark chocolate chips

Fill the rest of the blendtec with ice. Blend on “Ice Cream” setting while turning the lid twister until mixed, then blend just until smooth. Add dark chocolate chips to taste and mix for a few seconds.

6. Hot milk and a baggie full of Honey Nut Cheerios before bed

7. Organizing!! Our fridge with new clear totes...

The 2nd fridge in the garage. (Got milk? :)

8. The full freezer in the garage stores my favorite dinner hack: freeze shredded chicken, prepared beef and chicken taco meat, and spaghetti sauce for quick dinners, or make double dinners and freeze one.

9. Themple Thursdays. (Trying on a new dress)

10. Favorite calling: Relief Society teacher (because I love studying the gospel... and it's only once a month—now once every two months with the schedule change!) Rob and I have been called to be Ma and Pa at Trek this summer, so we'll see if that's my favorite... or not

10. Latest research favorite: makeup. I did a tutorial for Granny and Aunt Megan.

11. A favorite summer workout: hiking Horsetail falls (mostly with Megan, but this time we had a party)

... but especially Saturday hikes with Rob

12. My kids sent me this photo and wished they had thought of it first, haha (Bonjovi and I go way back 😉)

13. This is how my favorite person sleeps every night: backward (head by the footboard), with 5 pillows, on top of the covers, with a blankey. For some reason this is most comfortable. The rest of us just don't get it 😉

14. Favorite hair brush, the Tangle Teezer...

15. This dry shampoo has made my life so much easier!

16. My nails have never been long or strong, until now...

17. Best ponytail holders ever: coils. And I learned a hack to tighten them back up after they've been stretched out—throw them in a cup of hot water or blow dry them for a few seconds.

18. This is my favorite way to wear my hair to bed: I call it "the Unicorn." It actually preserves my curl/waves overnight while keeping my hair off my neck.

19. Recently, a satin pillowcase to minimize hair breakage and facial wrinkles. I went in to a dermatologist, and she asked if I slept on my left side (I do), because that side has significantly more wrinkles 😬

20. Rob's and my favorite tv series: "A Million Little Things," "This Is Us," and our old standby, "Law & Order."

Sixteen Is Sweet

Taken at Cy's 12th birthday...
[left to right] Cameron is now 6'7" and plays Varsity b-ball, cousin Ethan plays JV football, Alvin moved back East to be near his brother Frank (who plays for the Pelicans), Will skis and skates and has been dubbed part of the "Gnar clinic," Romney plays QB and b-ball with Cy on the LP sophomore team, Taylor moved to a rival school and plays against Cy, Eli plays linebacker and is Cy says "a player";), we'll cover Cy in this post, and Aaron is playing JV basketball.

16th birthday. New crew for pick-up ball...

Sutton, Nick, Aaron, Cy, Britton, Romney, and L.J.
L.J.'s the only one not playing high school basketball with these guys, but he's a great matchup for Cy's other talent, socializing.

A gas card and a message to go out to the garage...

Dad got the Ranger a new paint job, tires and rims, a bull bar, and a new stereo system.

And Cy's already got a girlfriend!
