St. Patrick's Day and Nowruz, 2018

Tried out these Lucky Charms treats, but Getty had a better idea—Fruity Pebbles treats. Next year!

Since one of Rob's favorite hobbies is to grocery shop (really), I asked him to stop on his way home from work and grab some green smoothies and Pringles for the kids for St. Patrick's. I was thinking along the lines of their favorite...

and individual size smoothies, like this...

Rob brought home the bulk size smoothie for them to share to save a little change. No biggie, should've seen that coming. It's Rob, right?
As for the Veggie Chips, he says he thought I wanted actual green chips. Hmmm, btw how's that Paleo diet going? haha

Nowruz, 2018
Mahdi and Reza invited us to the annual Nowruz party in Salt Lake. The men and women don't mingle and sit separately on opposite sides of the room, so Rob, Mahdi, Reza, and Cam sat together, and I sat alone for most of the party until MK showed up. But the women were friendly to me and wanted to make sure I felt comfortable.
The program started with a few speakers, who spoke mostly in Farsi. I was surprised that most everyone visited and talked with each other so loudly that you could barely hear the speaker. Mahdi said that's normal for the culture.
Then the men and women were invited to pray in another room, and a few left the room. When they returned, the boys and men danced. There's👇 our friend Rohoolah
The men are asked to not take pictures of the women's side (like Rob just did 👆—oops)

They served a delicious dinner of kabuli palaw, chicken curry, and rice, and black tea and cans of Coke.
MK and I got to talk to Reza and Mahdi only briefly as we were leaving.
So interesting. I love having the chance to take a peek into another culture.
