Middle School Isn't Pretty

MK has decided that everyone is pretty but her. [Me cringing.] She even saw a wedding photo of me and said, "Wow. You used to be pretty, Mom. I wonder why you didn't have any friends." [Uh...thanks. And I had some.]

She doesn't go around with her head hanging down, she just accepts this as a fact and tries to make the best of it.

Middle school is grizzly.

I've posted the evidence—three photos of our Beauty, which I submit as proof of her teenage insanity.

I rest my case.

MK - you are totally crazy! You are so beautiful!! You remind me so much of me at that age - and look how beautiful I am! haha. I always tell your Mom how much I admire you - you are so much fun, so easy going, comfortable with yourself, athletic, an amazing dancer and a little hottie to boot! Middle school and high school can be so fickle. When I was in MS, a I was friends with a girl who was virtually unknown, unpopular and no one thought she was cute. When I moved back to Utah and went to HS after living in Brux, she was the most popular girl in school. She was head cheerleader, Jr. Prom Queen, and dating the hottest guy at school. Beautiful is about WHO you are, not what clothes you wear, or what your hair looks like. YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL - INSIDE AND OUT. Be it. Live it. Accept it. Word.

Um...I don't even know what to comment on your post. MK-You are absolutely a beautiful girl! And you know what? Anyone who tells you otherwise has some seious issues of their own; it's true. Besides, look at your mother and aunt! You hold your head high and don't ever think for a second that you're not beautiful because it's NOT TRUE!!!

Tell MK that the Hackings think she is beautiful and smart and kind and fun and talented. And guess what? Everyone thinks they are not so cute at your age. EVERYONE. Let me tell you a secret...Brit, Jen, and your mom weren't so cute at that age, but look how they turned out?? They are all foxy ladies. Me? Well, I've always been a fox. (I know you are laughing!)

BTW, your mom had lots of friends. All my friends liked her too!

I've always thought that MK was one of the most beautiful girls that we had in the ward. I'm so sorry that everyone at school has to put others down to try and raise themselves up. Don't you wish you could just skip the middle school crap? Find some friends who love you and like to have fun and ignore all the others. You'll come to realize that THEY AIN'T WORTH YOUR TIME!

MK--I didn't have any friends until I was out of high school, and I assumed I would never be beautiful. Maybe your beauty is the kind your peers won't totally understand until you are all older, because it is the timeless kind--not the trendy kind. How great that you know people want to be around you for the RIGHT reasons, anyway! As long as you know who you are, and what you love about yourself inside and out(and for you, that should be TONS of things--including your contagious smile, your beautiful eyes, and your millions of talents and magnetic, down-to-earth personality), my own opinion is that it's better that you're not wrapped up in that anyway.
