Just an Idea: "Reading" pictures

Elle was assigned to give the scripture in Primary this week, so I got out my scissors and Friend magazines and did my quick-and-dirty pre-school talk/scripture prep routine.

The kids "read" the pictures, so they can actually give the scripture/talk by themselves. Simple idea—those are the only kind I've got. So, here's the translation:

What ["eye"] [the Lord] have [spoken] I have [spoken], ["weather"] by mine [own voice] or the [voice of my servants] it is the [same].—D&C 1:38

Impressed? Well, let's just pretend you are then. haha We go over it a few times a day that week, and sometimes the kids perform for themselves on imovie and then watch it, which they love. Doesn't take much time at all—I'm always amazed at how quickly they master it.

By the time Sunday rolls around, the kids are practically jumping out of their seats to get to that microphone, because, you know, "if ye are prepared, ye shall not fear."

I love watching them succeed at something hard or scary. But mostly I love how proud they are of themselves.

(Like Elle needs a self-esteem boost :)
