Life in the NICU

Thiago was small for gestational age with an unknown cause and was diagnosed with IUGR (intrauterine growth retardation). He needed oxygen.

MK and Oveth lived 5 minutes away from the hospital, so they fed Thiago every 3 hours, night and day, in the NICU... for 8 days.

When MK got home, she would pump.

If that all weren't hard enough, especially for a first-time mom, MK experienced DMER (dysphoric milk ejection response). Every time her milk let down, she would feel a vague sense of depression.

It helped that Thiago was a cutie petutie

The carseat test would determine when Thiago was ready to come home with his oxygen tank.
